The architects of the American firm Architecture Research Office decided to briefly move away from design development for serious and large-scale projects and built a luxury chicken coop for 8 layers on a farm in East Hampton – The Sheffer Chicken Coop.

Before starting work on the design of the chicken coop, experts conducted a number of studies aimed at how layers of a particular breed would feel in the proposed conditions. They ended up designing an arched structure of cedar planks with eight separate boxes for each hen and two perches. Natural light and ventilation is provided through the gaps between the roof and doors. To protect the hens from foxes and other animals that could dig a passage inside, the house was placed on a concrete foundation. And so that the birds do not freeze, the workers equipped a heated floor.
The walls and roof of the chicken coop are covered with metal tiles.
The walls and arched roof are covered in lead-aluminum tiles with folded edges to create a play of light and shade during the day.
In order to easily take out eggs and clean the boxes of chickens, opening doors are provided on the side.
