Stockholm 2015: Office furniture brand Glimakra has launched a collection of storage systems that can also be used for sound absorption and space separation in open-plan work areas.
The sound-absorbing properties of the furniture from this collection are provided by the cabinet lining, which is made of molded polyester with special foam..
«The need for it is well defined – it is an open floor plan in general and activities in basic workplaces in particular, and it can also be supplemented with specific products to achieve a functional acoustic environment.», – say designers from Sweden Johan Kauppi & Bertil harstrom.
«In Sabine, we have integrated two functions for the work areas – these are great storage locations that will also reduce the audibility of certain sounds».
The storage units are available in four different widths and the same height. Depth 396 millimeters, and what’s more, they can be grouped all together.
«The pressed felt on the outside of the furniture interacts with the cut volume, creating even and good sound absorption in a wide frequency range from 125 to 4000 Hz», – says Klas Hagberg, head at WSP Acoustics Sweden, who advised the authors of the project.
Available in anthracite, gray, white and green. Also available in different leg options – solid ash, brass or powder-coated metal frame, as well as aluminum castors.
