Located in northern Minnesota in a small place called Holyoke, this small and cozy container hut was created by two very talented brothers Paul and Scott Stanki.
After the destruction of the old house, the two brothers and their wives decided to build a new hut – a holiday home in order to be able to continue to enjoy the ravines, hills, fields and prairies of their property..
Small budget, extreme weather conditions and hope for building longevity led the brothers to consider making an affordable shipping container design..
After some sketches and site analysis, two twenty-ton shipping containers (£ 5,000 each) were purchased in Minneapolis at $ 800 each.
In the absence of electricity and running water, after long moving containers around the site, the brothers managed to create the skeleton of a small house from containers.
While construction is ongoing, when completed, the hut will have a kitchen, dining room, living room, wash and clothes area, and two king beds.
Interior walls and ceilings will be finished with birch plywood to remind you of the original look and feel of old trailers, as well as a full 12v lighting system and back-up gas light.
