DIY paper lampshade for a table lamp

A lot of old magazines have accumulated, great! Don’t rush to throw them away. There are many ideas on how to use paper debris. We offer you a master class on creating an author’s table lamp with a paper lampshade.

To create a table lamp with our own hands, we need:

  • an impressive bundle of old magazines (more than ten pieces),
  • jar of PVA glue,
  • brush,
  • scissors,
  • lamp blank (a light bulb in a base with a wire, you can use an old lamp),
  • plain paper (pack, any color that you choose for your lamp).

We disassemble magazines into double sheets, cut into strips, fifteen centimeters wide and about twenty long. For a paper lampshade, you will need about a hundred tubes, as many as possible, the variations in the shape of the product depend on the number of blanks.

We glue the resulting “rolls” along the edges, so that the tube becomes dense and rigid. Next, we wrap and glue it with the paper that you chose for the final color of the lamp. Alternatively, you can use several paper colors to match the interior color.

To make the table lamp with our own hands acquire the shape of a ball, lay out the base in the form of a pentagram. Apply glue at the connection points. In order for the structure to look neat, apply glue with a brush, it will save you from smudges.

We continue to lay out and glue the paper lampshade. We obtain a spherical shape by gradually expanding the radius of laying out the tubes, and from the middle, we spread it on the narrowing. The top of the ball is neatly closed with several tubes superimposed on each other, we also glue it together, leave it to dry.

We put the resulting paper lampshade on the selected lamp.
