«House of essex» – original house in Essex.
In the British county of Essex, an extremely original two-story house has appeared. Its avant-garde facade resembles either a gingerbread house from a fairy tale, or an unusual church. The creators hope that this striking structure will attract as many tourists as possible to the historic area..
FAT Architecture project.
Architectural firm FAT Architecture, in collaboration with eccentric British artist Grayson Perry, completed the original home after five years of work, called «Home for Essex» («House of essex»). The house is divided into four segments in ascending order. Every part «advancing» from each other like a telescope.
The façade is made up of spectacular alternating green and white tiles. The roof is sheathed with copper sheets.
Themed interior based on the life cycle of a fictional character.

Inside, the bright red interior is adorned with paintings and tapestries by contemporary artist Grayson Perry. The building’s design is based on the life of the fictional character Julie, who personifies the typical Essex woman. Facade, interior, weather vane on the roof: everything is decorated with her statues, reflecting the difficult life path of the character: unhappy childhood, early marriage, divorce, career failure and death.

Despite this «screaming» interior, the house contains all the rooms necessary for a standard living: living room, kitchen, bedroom and bathroom.
The house will soon be available for rent by visiting tourists.
