Room to Move is a self-sufficient house with an area of only 21 sq. meter.
As a rule, life in a small house is associated with cramped, cluttered and inconvenient conditions. The owner of this modest but cozy home is in a hurry to refute this opinion and demonstrates his version of a compact self-sufficient home, for which you do not need to make monthly utility bills.
House built by New Zealander Jeff Hobbs.
New Zealander Jeff Hobbs has built a 21 square meter Room to Move house for himself, which is 100% self-sufficient and practically independent of city communications. The house stands on a trailer with wheels and, if necessary, can be transported to any place.
The house was built taking into account the fact that it was possible to live in it all year round. The building has a 600-watt solar battery and a solar collector for heating water. The batteries have enough charge to operate the washing machine, hair dryer and other electrical appliances.
House with an area of 21 sq. meter.
The house is 6.7 meters long and 3.2 meters wide. The dwelling is based on 62 mm thick structural insulated panels. A small wood-burning stove is installed in the living room for extra warmth.
Large glazed doors let in the maximum amount of natural light. Inside the house there is everything you need: a large L-shaped sofa, under which there is a lot of storage space, modular wardrobes.
Room to Move. Kitchen.
A 130-liter refrigerator, sink, hob and oven are installed on the work surface in the kitchen, and an extractor hood above them.
The bathroom has a shower and a compost toilet. Sleeping places are located above the head.

Since the house is located on an island in New Zealand, the rainwater harvesting system is expected to fill the tanks with 32,000 liters of water per year..
The cost of materials and equipment for a self-sufficient mini-house was 46 thousand US dollars. And if we add the services of builders to them, then the total price of Room to Move is US $ 77,000.
Miniature miracle houses are very popular in the west. But whether living in small houses will actually help save money is highly questionable..
