Echoing natural curves: a house going down the slope

In the province of Bio-Bio (Chile) a very unusual house appeared. The architect was tasked with designing a dwelling with minimal impact on the surrounding forest. As a result, the house turned out «broken» and multilevel. However, natural wood and a large number of windows allow the owners to feel at one with nature..

Chilean architect Sebastian Irarrazaval completed work on a private house located in a forested area in the province of Bio-Bio. Working on the project, the designer took into account all the features of the local relief, so the house seemed «descends» cascading down the slope.

Different types of natural wood were used for the construction. Since the house is located on a slope, there are several stairs inside that serve not only a practical purpose, but also elements of minimalist decor.

Numerous windows allow sunlight to enter the interior of the house throughout the day. A stunning view of the greenery of the forest opens up for the owners from any room. And the living room offers stunning views of the Pacific Ocean on three sides.

Next to the kitchen outside there is a wooden deck, where, if you wish, you can have lunch outside or just relax in a hammock.

Another «sliding» the house is in Japan. The customer’s desire to be closer to the natural sources was taken literally by the Japanese architects and they built a house on a slope by the river. From a distance it seems as if pitched roof slowly «slides down» down, dragging as many as 3 floors.
