Urban treehouse – tree house.
On the outskirts of Berlin, in close proximity to two picturesque lakes, two tree houses were built, the ideological inspirers of the construction of which were the grandfather and his grandson. Both houses are only 24 sq. meters are also a wonderful example of a suburban dwelling built in an urban area.

Baumraum architects helped to realize the idea of building tree houses by grandfather Hans-Joachim Stegenmann and his grandson Kolja. Having a land plot on the outskirts of Berlin (Germany), the owners wanted to get a wooden dwelling, built in a natural environment, combined with modern furniture for a comfortable stay in it.

The architects completed the construction of two Urban Treehouses with an area of 24 square meters each. Inside there is everything you need to enjoy your weekend or just feel like you are somewhere out of town: living room, bedroom, bathroom with rain shower, fully equipped kitchen, TV and Wi-Fi. The sofa sections can be pushed into one large bed, and things can be stored in drawers built in under the seats.

Despite its name Treehouse («A house on a tree»), the structures are not supported by trunks, but rest on galvanized frames sheathed with larch strips. Solid prefabricated five-layer spruce panels are used in walls, ceiling and floor. The materials used are also environmentally friendly.

Unfortunately, the ideological inspirer Hans-Joachim Stegenmann did not live to see the completion of the construction of houses, since he was already at an advanced age. Therefore, 2 Treehouse houses are dedicated to him and his wife.
This tree house is not the only dwelling built in this way within the city. In Japan, for example, not a house was built, but a whole restaurant on a tree.
