To make an original vase of threads and glue with your own hands, it will take very little time and materials that are always at hand. The work does not require complex skills, you just need to try a little – and a spectacular product, which no one else has, will decorate your home.
Materials
To make a thread vase, you will need:
- thick threads (or thin ropes such as twine),
- food storage film,
- paste, or starch for its preparation,
- scissors,
- a bowl or other similar shape and size.
Stages of work
- For a vase of thread and glue, you first need a paste. You can buy it or make it yourself. To do this, boil 750 ml of water, pour 100 g of starch with 250 ml (glass) of cold (!!!) water, stir thoroughly, and then pour into boiling water, stirring constantly. Cook for three to five minutes, then turn off and let cool..
- Cut the thread or rope into pieces equal to about two to three circles of the bowl chosen as the model.
- Pour the paste into a suitable container, lower the cut rope there and let it soak.
- The next stage in making a vase from threads and glue is preparing the mold. Carefully wrap the bowl with plastic wrap so that there are no open spaces and “bubbles”. Remove excess film to the inside of the bowl..
- Get the pieces of rope soaked in glue out of the paste and start laying out the pattern on the film. It all depends on your imagination. You can pre-practice on dry threads, or make a sketch of the pattern on paper. Do not lay out the threads tightly, without gaps – the product will turn out to be rough, uninteresting. Fishnet things look much nicer.
- You have already succeeded in making a vase out of threads, and there will be only one copy of such a vase. Now put it to dry by turning the bowl upside down. It is better if it dries for a day.
- When dry, remove from bowl “surplus” film, and carefully start peeling off the film along with the rope pattern.
- Separate the film – you still have an elegant fruit bowl in your hands!
