To change the annoying interior, or add some special accents to it, you can use decorative plates. The decor of the plates can be anything, depending on the task that you have set for yourself. But plates with craquelure made using decoupage technique will look especially interesting.
To make your own decoupage of a plate with craquelure, you will need:
- an ordinary plate of the required size and shape;
- flat brushes;
- decoupage card or regular napkin with a pattern;
- PVA glue or special decoupage glue;
- shellac – alcohol varnish;
- gum arabic – for cracks;
- varnish;
- solvent for degreasing;
- a piece of foam rubber (you can use dishwashing sponges);
- acrylic paint;
- oil paint (dark).
Procedure
- You need to start decorating plates with a thorough degreasing. Only then can you start applying paint with a sponge..
- After drying, separate the top layer with the image from the napkin, cut it along the contour and glue it with PVA in the center of the plate. This procedure must be done very carefully and carefully, because the final result of decoupage of a plate with craquelure depends on it.
- After drying, the napkin is fixed with varnish and shellac is applied in three layers (drying each layer until it dries).
- Gum arabic is applied on top and left for a day.
- After a day, dark oil paint is rubbed into the cracks formed with a napkin. Craquelures get bright.
Decorating plates by decoupage does not require much time and special skills, and at the same time makes it possible to make the interior exclusive.
