Do it yourself

How to make a decorative partition with your own hands?

You can make a decorative partition between different zones in an apartment on your own, without resorting to the services of designers and without spending significant funds.

You will need to purchase wooden planks (or other veneer planks), a pair of metal posts, and a roll of thick, sturdy rope. Instead of one of the slats you can insert “slate board” – it is modern and convenient, for example, in the kitchen you can write on such a board “tasks” to yourself or your family.

This option will suit almost any style solution, if you adhere to simple rules:

  • The color of the veneer of the boards must be matched to the color of the wooden furniture or other wooden interior elements. It can be either in tone or contrasting.

Process

It is easy to make a decorative partition, following the sequence of actions.

  1. In the right place, fix the stand collar, the distance between them should not exceed 80 cm.
  2. Step back about half a meter from the floor, glue the end of the rope to the stand, and wind tightly – about 10 turns. Cut the rope and seal the end.
  3. Measure the distance from the floor to the bottom and top of the winding – the same should be on the other stand. Write down these values - when you make a decorative partition with your own hands, you will need them.
  4. Unwind the rope and use it as a template to cut 13 more of the same pieces. Support elements and restraints will be made of them..
  5. Again measure the distance already known to you from the floor to the lower edge of the winding, wind the same lengths of rope on both posts, securing each turn with glue.
  6. Lean the first plank against the rope supports, take the rope, wrap it around the post, and overlap on the other side. Cut 12 of the same pieces of rope to attach the planks, and attach the first plank to the second post.
  7. Repeat until you have attached all the planks. Wrap ten more turns of rope over the top bar – here it will act as a height limiter.
