Wikkelhouse – corrugated cardboard house.
When developing their projects, architects are increasingly experimenting with building materials. Now not only iron containers or high-strength glass are used, but also … ordinary cardboard. It was this material that became the basis for a small but fairly durable house from Dutch designers.

Experts from the architectural company Fiction Factory spent 4 years to invent this residential building. Wikkelhouse (translated from Dutch «wrapped house») made of recycled corrugated cardboard.
The walls of the house are made of 24 layers of corrugated cardboard.
The basis of the house is made up of modules that are manufactured in production by winding a cardboard sheet. The walls of the house are 24 layers of cardboard held together with high-strength glue. After that, the outer part of the module is covered with a waterproofing agent. The modules are lined with natural wood inside.
The length of the house depends on the number of modules.

Assembly of the house and connection of communications takes only one day. Modules with a width of 1.2 meters are fastened together, and from this the size of the house can increase as much as the customer wishes.
From an environmental point of view, Wikkelhouse is absolutely safe, since it can subsequently be recycled.

Russian architects try to keep up with foreign ones and create their own versions of modular houses. Vladimir Yuzbashev and Natalya Brailovskaya presented the House-Ark with an area of only 37 sq. meters. Despite such a modest size, everything inside the house is well planned and suitable for a comfortable stay.
