Making a shelf with your own hands is not a difficult task. Such shelves look very modern and fashionable, combining details of trendy styles of minimalism, eco-design and timeless country.
To make shelves on the wall in an apartment, on which books or souvenirs brought from long trips will find their place, you must have the following:
- 2 boards of the size you need (for example, 75×30 cm),
- 4 leather belts, the length of which is approximately equal to the length of the boards,
- 4 short and as many long screws with plastic dowels,
- knife,
- ruler,
- drill,
- horizontal tool (level).
To make a shelf with your own hands, it is enough to have minimal skills in working with a drill. Leather belts should be straight and smooth. To make the shelves on the wall elegant and neat, first align their edges by attaching a ruler and cutting off the excess along it with a sharp knife..
After that, drill the belts folded in half with a drill (see photo) at a distance of two centimeters from the edge.
The next step in making a do-it-yourself shelf is to mount it to the wall. This will require large screws. Dowels must be inserted into the pre-drilled holes in the wall. Then attach the leather strap loops to the wall with long screws..
A level will help to make the shelves on the wall strictly horizontal. Insert the prepared boards into the hinges and align them. Now you can fasten the belts with an additional short screw (as in the photo).
