Spherical eco-lodge – a spherical house suspended between trees.
British architects have presented their alternative to conventional camping tents. They offer tourists to stop for the night not on the ground, but in the air in the truest sense of the word. The spherical structures will be suspended between trees. This will ensure the safety of vacationers, as well as exclude the possibility of negative impact on nature..
Hanging Hiking Shelter Project from UK Cole Company.
British architecture firm Cole Company has unveiled an unusual project for the Spherical eco-lodges jungle dwelling. They will be spherical structures suspended between trees. Designers plan to place them on the Nam Et-Phou Louey Biodiversity Conservation Area in Laos.
To create this design, the authors were inspired by the nests of birds, insects, resembling cocoons. They argue that it would be more expedient to choose a tent for an overnight stay in this place, but a sphere, primarily for security reasons. The reserve is trying to save the tiger population of this area, so the animals freely roam the territory.
Spherical eco-lodge. The internal structure of a spherical dwelling.
The basis of the Spherical eco-lodge will be a timber frame. The base will look like a basket woven of bamboo, and the top will be covered with a waterproof material.
Inside the dwelling is designed for two or three people. On horizontal decks, you can spread your sleeping bags and store your camping equipment underneath. Mosquito net at the entrance to protect against annoying insects.
Spherical eco-lodge. Concept.
New dwellings will be located near the village of Nam Poung to create additional jobs.
Luminair architects have not only developed the concept of such a spherical dwelling, but even brought it to life. Unlike the Spherical eco-lodge, the Luminair’s Tree Tent is almost a complete home.
